1509 is when they founded that school
oh so long ago
i used to go there when i was young
wore ties and garters yo
the palce is old and made of stone
and the eating halls of wood
the classrooms were quite small
and the kids were a sort of brotherhood
we'd go swimming on certain days
and out to fields on others
we'd play pogs on the blacktop outside
a kid named matthew we'd bother
terminator and predator were big
and soccer was our main thing
we'd go inside the coat room and then to class
and in the mornings we'd sing
we'd have an orienterring class
where we'd go outside
and on the fields for soccer practice
make sure not to be offsides
im not sure they called it back in those days
playing on fields marked off with cones
and dressing room razzings and cricket game matches
and old walls made out of stones
the teachers were cool and the kids my friends
id been there for awhile
but my folks decided it was time to move
so we left with style
and though i was gone far away
the kids would sent me letters
mister milnes had made sure
that they werent returned to senders
and i went back years later
to visit my old school
but mister monk had died so they said
in a way i felt a fool
because the place was completely clear
of teachers at all familiar
and friends i came to depend on then
were now suddenly superior
they had a network i didnt have
and i would've if i'd stayed
but it's turned out the way it has
and i'm meant to find my own way
