the friends we met
from when i was two
were kindof strange
but cool too
we went to the mall
and looked at things
in a rush
when the fat lady sings
hiding from cameras
the sister did
didnt want a picture
and so she hid
met at the beach
outside the hotel
came from virginia
it was just as well
the father would bark
and insist on repeating
but over time
that became more fleeting
the mom was tired
with eyes wrinkled
i thanked her for my sister
and her eyes then twinkled
younger brother would hide
stuck with his dad
acted shy
but his work ethic was rad
and sam was cool
the kid i knew longest
was kinda quiet
breaking ice was a test
we managed an open mic
two came
we played our set
thirty minutes without refrain
dinner with steak
a restaurant near disney
burka discussion
salad didn't seize me
old friends from home
visit rarely
but we drove two days
and caught them barely
