poolside playpen

poolside playpen
golfcourse rainy glen
roadside cop convention
internet a godsend invention
highway mistakes send us to other places
jokes made and angrily remembered
just another meeting of familiar faces
words spoken overruled and unheard
drive made through the fields
rest stops every now and then
gas station fillups a necessity
travel makes boys into men
girlfriend warmth on the bed
food on a tray ordered and eaten
skin scratched itchy and red
and bruises appear as if ones beaten
eggs and television,
art on the wall
intricate carpet
and outlet malls
sandy beaches
crustation bones
yelling old lady
and hurricane homes
cyclones in the sky
staring tourists gaze amazed
large birds fly by
struck on the surface skin barely grazed
kid and his clan
visiting the town
prompting our arrival
and discussions making me frown
forced friendship
at the age of two
father's vowed
never again to do
the sorts of things
he pulled back then
im trying real hard
to go back again
one day we'll be
in england man
that'll be the day
i'll be put together again.
