nanak was a freethinker

nanak was a freethinker
made up his own mind
came from one background
created something of a new kind
preached his word to people
traveled 'round the country
met all sorts of people
offered random sundries
people thought to follow him
made him into their leader
followed him wherever he went
he was their thought feeder
they turned the teachings into religion
no longer was it the thought of one man
but a movement of men who thought it good
each doing the best that they can
but the fallicy of religion
is in its organization
you can't expect revelation
when all you're doing is imitation
nanak had it right
when he thoguht for himself
making the right decision
not to be like everybody else
we can learn from that
the example he's given us
live well and strong
and on semantics don't make a fuss
it's the big picture that matters
otherwise you're mired with detail
that which keeps you fromseeing the true workings
and you will be derailed
hair is not important
while a trapping of the culture
was not a thought of the man
the concept originator
and children should be not raised
to learn of the dogma
deep spiritual thought processes
robbing childhood gives bad karma
and in the end we're what we want
not what we came from
that thought is what distinguishes us
from the animal kingdom
