4the day i met this girl/
she changed my world /
in that bar/
like no other girl
8we sat there /
caught in a stare /
she heard me play /
like noone else was there
12came over to me /
asked for a number /
i got nervous /
nearly made a blunder
16told her no phone /
but she pushed /
gave me hers /
and i was cooked
20we moved in/
didn't bother dating/
never did before/
whole thing elating
24and we started our thing/
in the streets of columbus/
a lesbian/
and an indian with rust
28we left that town/
moved in with my folks/
had a decent year/
and changed out our yolks
32saw the country/
and made some plans/
went to college/
explored the land
36now we're here/
guitar in hand/
small toy thing/
with big plans

this's a positive song
this's a positive song
at least one that you can try to sing along
dont get down when you hum this one
'cause i want you to be a smiling chum
there's positives in every shadow
and every dark place has a brighter part
we keep these things rolling and things'll be good
we're about to get to a good part
smiles hide behind tears sometimes
and bright eyes pierce through the fog
happiness can be afraid to show its face
but its there smiling crouched in a log
there's boundless joy in every person
the celebration of a living thing
the cycle of life lava and stars
the whispers of wind good things will bring
laughter pure and bliss thick
the gleam a pearl of childhood
the buzz in the back of your weary mind
spontanous runs through the wood
tell stories about fairies and elves
around a camp fire make shadow faces
never lose that sense of wonder
a lucky card draw pullin up the aces
become an explorer and see new things
save the world from evil
be a hero and change the world
childhood dreams of evil kanevil
clasped hands and warm spirits
high mood and festive time
celebrate the unity
come together and enjoy playful rhyme
marvel at the moon and count the stars
lie on your back on a hill
go ice skating and hold hands
count dewdrops on the window sill
take a picture of the coolest thing
and show off your new guitar chord
talk about your latest dream
draw a rainbow on your chalk board
fill the car with our adventure supplies
switch to long range communication
drive down roads with beautiful skies
swirly nature creation
at least one that you can try to sing along
dont get down when you hum this one

theres a bad feelin in my stomache
chorus
1theres a bad feelin in my stomache
and it just wont go away.
ive heard so many bad thoughts
and it's been a rough day.
i'm an optimist and i won't be downed by this'
i will stand tall i won't fall prey to this dis
like a kiss from a person that wants me gone
i knew about this all along
i wrote this colorful song
to sing along
to open my eyes
throw down the disguise
expose the lies
oh such lies
throw dirt in my eyes
1theres a bad feelin in my stomache
and it just wont go away.
ive heard so many bad thoughts
and it's been a rough day.

your art is a waste of time
your art is a waste of time
you should just get a job or go to school
and all you do is whine
wastin your time and actin a fool
why don't you go make some money
all you do is spend mine
society doesnt accept you
so why the hell should i?
your art is a waste of time
you never do anything good
you cut your hair and fucked us all/ cut your hair and disappointed us all
just like the americans would.
you went and got a girl.
now we can't have any friends
if they came here they'd shun us all
we want to have dinners again
your music is noisy and bad
why can't you get a degree?
we wanted a doctor and got you instead
you leave us in misery.
now listen to what i have to say
ive got nothing good to speak
but hold still and let me talk to you
i guarentee it'll be bleak.
so break up with your girlfriend and move out of here
grow that beard back and quit your career
we've tried to be completely clear,
you can be a liberal, but not here
you should just get a job or go to school
and all you do is whine
wastin your time and actin a fool
why don't you go make some money

a mom email
a mom email
nothing special
just more bitching
really what the hell
i try to make this work
but she makes it so difficult
apparently you can't say the wrong word
hypocrisy is the house she built
it strange to have such back n forth
with a lady who caused such pain
cut my hair then recieved the treament
bow my head in shame
they smile gleefully and rubbed hands satisfied
they'd managed to hit their mark
and over time the soul drained
my life lost it's spark
but now i've got something back again
something with which i can do much
and she can only see herself in the mirror
hiding behind lies as a crutch
but we'll move out either way
and she'll lose her chance on me
relationships are a choice
and aren't based on infinity
she'll find i'm gone and perhaps be sad
and that'll be well earned
you can't force a relationship
especially with people you've spurned
the tears and tales are wearing me down
you wear your ignorance like a bubble
hide yourself from any personal problems
under canopy you huddle
but its honestly a waste of time
she gives us a bad vibe
and while i'm giving her the grace of the moment
she's not of my tribe
the hair shun and side talk
all's taken toll
and i'm older now not acting their slave
pains made me bold
so here we sit facing bright future
with darkness in our past
and if she doesn't tread carefully
this relationship won't last
nothing special
just more bitching
really what the hell
i try to make this work

friends in the basement
friends in the basement
with a weird mess
a tempermental estrangement
obscures the rest
put the list together
and plan it out
we'll get it all together
before we go down
we'll confront them about
all the nonsense from before
damn the consequences
WE WANT MORE!
and so we whet our taste
and build our dream
we'll express ourself
smiles gleam
down we'll march
into the dark cavern
where the beast slumper
without aid or lantern
breakfast in bed
a feast indeed
fill the bellies
what the fillies need
gather the troops
inspire the ranks
march down steps
creaky planks
the danger awaits
the conclusion thrilling
eagerly awating
drink spilling
soft music plays
as we gather ourself
we go downstairs
channel an icelandic elf
and be speakers
of our own mind
to those denizens below
of the persuasion unkind
and we'll get response
good or bad
and we'll feel better
vindicated just a tad
with a weird mess
a tempermental estrangement
obscures the rest
put the list together
and plan it out
we'll get it all together

so schools over
so schools over
but things didnt work out
im not sure what happened
or what thats all about
but i got my diploma
and im done with that
but for some reason
it wont get off by back
i need to move on
but its hard to do
so many things to say
lot of healing to go through
the kids were crazy
and the teachers fucked
i was forced to be there
it fuckin sucked
they took me to japan
that was kinda nice
recorded an album
and offered advice
they sent me to china
took a photography course
but it wasn't all great
the pit of evil's source
i had shit on my head
not of my choosing
and to the other kids
it was quite confusing
they had all their cliques
i didn't fit in
not even with brown kids
it was deeper than skin
i didn't belong
taken from my home
and this was prison
not a place of my own
in the end i'd skip
and skated by
it wasn't hard
they didn't want me to try
but i managed a show
upon the stage in the commons
got a standing ovation
like henry rollins
but things didnt work out
im not sure what happened
or what thats all about
but i got my diploma
and im done with that
but for some reason

the punks seem cool
the punks seem cool
with their rock n roll
dyed hair
and ideals
the goths with the makeup
doom and gloom
manson screams
bang and boom
there's alotta cool music out there
from past times
they're tried alot of shit
wrote alot of rhymes
we in our current era
with uptight singers
doesnt quite seem fair
we've got no dead ringers
but there's always the records
hits of the past
to listen through the day
ones we'd once laid to rest
blastin back old sounds
keepin us inspired
moment of creativety
by history's words we're wired
and get back to the page
start again fresh
never know what you'll say
never know what you'll get
there's times of celebration
and times of darkness
nowadays it seems like
we're in the midst of harshness
but through the gloom
the light shines through
we'll make this room move
with the power of the groove
forget the problems
recognize the point
that we're all alive
and we should rock this joint
out we'll go
smiles ablaze
steppin tall
emerge from the haze
with their rock n roll
dyed hair
and ideals
the goths with the makeup
doom and gloom
manson screams
bang and boom

i wanna get out
the feminists hate me 'cause i'm a dude. the white kids hate me 'cause i'm brown. the conservatives hate me 'cause i'm liberal. the xenophobes hate me 'cause im an immigrant. the indians hate me 'cause im westernized. my family hates me 'cause i cut my hair. the scene hates me 'cause i'm weird. i'm hated everywhere.
i wanna get out
will you let me in
im tired of bein here
feel the crawl in my skin
____
i wanna go away
far from all this mess
can you help me leave this place
im desperate
been here for too long
im nearly gone
been a tough time here
i wanna run
i wanna get out
will you let me in
im tired of bein here
feel the crawl in my skin
____
i wanna go away
far from all this mess
can you help me leave this place
im desperate
been here for too long
im nearly gone

basement blues
basement blues
lost in clues
don't be rude
or be a prude
we're controlled
by borderline robots
lost the trick
we forgot
live it wel
and smile real big
moments pass
drive with a rig
get yourself
further up
don't want
to get fucked up
but such is the case
in this crazy town
everyones conservative
theyre all around
we try the west
and get a taste
seems the best
but maybe a waste
we're still in the country
which ain't the plan
chart a course
and leave this land
but we're here now
and she wants a degree
not sure why
since knowledge is free
but such is the case
im not sure where we're goin
runnin the race
with rats aflowin
and eyes a'glow
and will soaring
we'll make there
or else be boring
so while we mull
and sit still
we stand real tall
upon the hill
lost in clues
don't be rude
or be a prude
we're controlled
by borderline robots
lost the trick
we forgot
live it wel
and smile real big

sigur ros on the stereo
sigur ros on the stereo
ringin in the ears
got out the studio
gathered up the tears
played the old songs
for my old friend
kinda decent stuff
when you look at it in the end
but it wasn't quite as good
not quite what i'd hoped for
but you know me
always wanting more
i just think i could do better
kinda makes me wanna quit
but anita thinks different
says don't give a shit
so im trying it her way
with ringing ears
though i'd be better off
not focusing on past years
scratched my head
and kinda know why
im learnin about myself
complicated guy
icelands beckoning
im behind a desk
but by my reckoning
you could call this a test
college is calling
anita's taking note
she wants a degree
i'd prefer a boat
we've gotta make this work
i felt the connection
can't let that go
time for correction
perhaps we'll stay
maybe we'll go
wherever we are
hard work for sho
and in the end
with our accolades shining
we'll be smiling
and good fortunes compiling
ringin in the ears
got out the studio
gathered up the tears
played the old songs

studio is where im about to be
studio is where im about to be
its a fun place cant you see
dont you wish you were me
today i'll run completely free
we've written songs for years
lost friends along the way
collected blood and tears
to sing and save the day
now's the chance for redemption
with our day in the studio
get the MIC's attention
as our faces glow
studio is where im about to be
its a fun place cant you see
dont you wish you were me
today i'll run completely free
it's been a long road
but we're still walking strong
lost the kid awhile ago
but still sung the song
a bunch of punks
and stoned out fools
we're back again
we changed the rules
now we're here
it's a beautiful thing
finally have
the chance to sing
in the box
with the mic
the song clutch
sing what we like
studio is where im about to be
its a fun place cant you see
dont you wish you were me

sittin in a room
sittin in a room
filled with gloom
ill fetch a broom
and sweep it all away
sittin by the light
in the middle of the night
the moon is shining bright
it sweeps us far away
and as we wonder bout the things
that seem to follow us
we'll sit and see what new day brings
we plan to take the bus
and as we glance outside the room
birds dance away
as sun rises over gloom
it warms our winters day
filled with gloom
ill fetch a broom
and sweep it all away
sittin by the light
in the middle of the night
the moon is shining bright
