lonely as can be i'm alone

lonely as can be i'm alone
this was once a warm home
she can't stand me
i'm too demanding
im scared she's gone for good
had enough
i called her phone but
she would have none of that stuff
this aint no bluff
she's done with me
this could be the end
we'll just have to see
this year and a half
amazing
we'll just have to see if she
wants to stay with this thing

funny that she used to say that i never wrote songs about her

funny that she used to say that i never wrote songs about her
here's one for her 'cause she left me... so quick
i like to get things outa the way, talk them over
she doesn't like it she says i'm just a dick
and i guess she had enough
she drove away
and i don't know where she is
she just drove away
like a loser im singin about my girl
didnt have the guts to follow where she went
sometimes she has had just enough of me
even though sometimes i swear she's heavensent
and i'm scared that she don't want me
maybe she's just had enough of this
maybe that kiss was our last kiss
hardly memory don't want it to end like this

she won't pickup her phone

she won't pickup her phone
i'm left all on my own
weather's nice but there's nobody home
she drove away
she was nice but then she left
wouldn't pick her phone again
kinda hurts, its a dull pain
she drove away
we used to have fights our own way
but nowadays she just never wants to play
gotta have everything exactly her own way
she had enough took my car and drove far away
took my wallet can't go to a bar
she's got school so she can't go far
drove right away in my old camry car
yeah she drove away

not the best situation to be in

not the best situation to be in
not the best feelin to have
my girls gone and there's nothin to do
i can't even get mad
too sad to cry too uptight
but the moment seems right
i called her sister and she said
it'll be fine
she drove away
and took my car
got my wallet in her bag
hope she didn't go far
i can't talk to her
'cause she won't let me
it might be all over
and that'd be disappointing
'cause she's a nice girl
and it's been alright

the girl is gone and im all alone

the girl is gone and im all alone
she left me here in this empty home
went for a drive and took my wallet
left her sister's hat, took my wallet
now im sittin on the floor
and im singin songs
sun is out and the weathers fine
takin things that dont belong
we might be breakin up
but we had a good run
tryin to get myself prepared
was a good one
my girl is gone
and im helpless
got ringin ears
and her sister can't help this

i am defeated

i am defeated
things didnt go my way
my girls gone
on this sweet sunny day
she left me talkin
i hadn't said my fill
but she had a spell
and claimed she was ill
she was gone in a flash and i was all alone
not all that cool
i feel like that brown kid we met at the bar
just a fool
she's gone and i'm all alone
itsa kinda shitty way to be
won't pick up the cell phone
i get the answerin machine

sun shines down from window sill

sun shines down from window sill
as wooden table overflows
boxes bags and newspaper clippings
through the window grass grows
and bottles all paired from seperate excursions
and cookie dough box laying empty
miniature guitar propped along the wall
and socks about aplenty
refrigerater hum and continual drone
and shadow from shade makers clear
green glass, white glass, white wall around
a fan overhead quite near
windows and windows and shades and tape
pillows to sit on and lean
motor free vaccuum to clean up the floor
sun glinting with white sheen
paper and plastic and rasberry sauce
unwanted onion in a pile
table top covers and boxed food directions
plastic bottles placed with style
mcdonalds bag and pamplets and sushi spot clippings
yellow tissue crumpled on the top
green tie off lying unused and folded
when will the refrigerator stop?

an apartment from the 50's

an apartment from the 50's
and weather in the 90's
has us second guessing
backhandedly confessing
we're not sure about this place
brown skin indian claiment
open mic empty and host desperate
irate subway worker demanding payment
classes are clustered with silent sorts
teachers often seeking favorites
do the reading twelve pages an hour
we'll get this degree done in bits
grass is green and rabits frolic
trash piles in corners here
pizza from before piles in the fridge
been awhile since we've bought a beer
bro culture seems prevalent here
swap your stories and sip your beer
drive downtown to the gay side
things seem a little more queer
uptight pansies on the whole for the town
none of these have been through our fare
we learned to stare down the worst of the town
yep good times from back over there

glorify the drink and get your degree

glorify the drink and get your degree
lsd an expression of cool
these people havent learned enough about life
balding and single the lonely fool
bring a net date to your sisters birthday
build a program to get laid
chair of the committee on the night of the show
left without a girl or getting paid
greasy pizza spot tabletop drumming
battle of egos and game flexing single dude
cheating girlfriend obvious in our midst
paranoid intelligence with feigned attitude
the pool table room is our only escape
the bathroom barely habitable
the paranoid door guy long haired and fuzzy
we were promised gold and it was all bull
people dont show and dont bother calling
yet they want you to consider them friends
theyre a strange type in this town here
on the whole they seem rather dense
but its our home for now we study here
we're now workers of the pen and book
perhaps we'll get degrees and be financially stable
what the hell, it's worth a second look

bar room antics at a birthday party

bar room antics at a birthday party
half balding brother's creation
alot of quiet people sitting sideways
a certain tense anticipation
the product of osu no doubt
brown skin kid with no clout
black kid in white standing outside
another black kid calls him a member of his tribe
drums too loud and guitar too distorted
our hearing ability seems to be forfeit
nobodys getting laid tonight save me
and thats a sad sight considering we're going steady
fools on phones talkin about nonsense
girls with game swapping dates
brew swigged by the former AA member
nobodys getting laid at this rate
a few glances at the bubbles
always an idiotic thing to say
a swarm of thugs rolls down the road
in the typical cleveland way
trying to get a bottle when there's no need to get it
our ambassador does the talking for us
go inside and come back again
most of them left no fuss.

cant write a song

-cant write a song
words dont flow
mind blocked
barricade wont go
-drums too loud
ears tend to ring
guitar distorted
too loud to sing
-exaggerated kid
with psychadelic glasses
dancin in the floor
caterin to the masses
-flashin girls signs
with a girlfriend to the right
things seem weird here
and then later in the night
-when the kid got up to pay
his girl started to play
and our friend J
had his day made
-turned down by his sweetheart
the kids heart smarting
yet pulls out the game
and then things began starting
